Terri McClure and Sam Long – founders of PH@TT and all-round inspirational ladies, visited Zimbabwe in 2018 and felt compelled to help the beautiful girls of this country receive an education and live with dignity.
They met a local lady who was taking action to help these girls and they instantly decided that they wanted to lend their support. The first step was to create a unique club to help empower girls. The club will provide educational support for girls who are generally not given full access to opportunities at home and in school.
The girls will find the club an emotionally and physically safe space where they will be encouraged to achieve their highest potential whatever their talents may be.
How we are making a difference
The club will also encompass a practical aspect, providing the girls with many of the basics they often lack in everyday life, from basic school equipment to personal hygiene products.
Did you know that educating girls is the key to tackling global poverty?
And yet 130 million girls globally are out of school and 15 million girls of primary school age will never enter a classroom!
According to the World Bank, educating girls is a central part of eradicating global poverty. Here is why…
Educated women tend to be healthier, participate more informal labour markets, have fewer children and marry later.
